New Requirement for Post Season Soccer Officiating

Monday, April 01, 2019

As a reminder, it is now a requirement for all soccer officials wanting to work IGHSAU and IHSAA post-season soccer matches to attend a Soccer Officials’ Clinic once every three years. This policy will be phased in over the next three years. Thus, those not able to attend a Soccer Officials’ Clinic this season will still be allowed to work this year’s IGHSAU and IHSAA post-season matches.

The IGHSAU and IHSAA have partnered with the Iowa Referees Committee to offer the Soccer Officials’ Clinics.  Below are the remaining clinics.

Wednesday, February 21 at Waverly-Shell Rock High School (Waverly)

Thursday, February 22 at Central DeWitt High School (DeWitt)

Saturday, March 3rd, Terry Vaughn Referee Academy at West Des Moines Valley High School. The Academy will offer a rules presentation in the afternoon for those not registered for the clinic to partake in. More information about the Terry Vaughn Referee Academy can be found at  Questions about the Terry Vaughn Referee Academy can be directed to Chip Walaska at

Please check the Soccer Officials section in the Central Hub on the IGHSAU website for more information about the upcoming soccer season.
